Here at Living Swell Kombucha our goal is to nurture and unite our community through delicious, craft kombucha brewed by local Santa Cruz mamas in Santa Cruz, CA. We strive to support our Santa Cruz community through green and sustainable practices, and are passionate about brewing small-batch and traditionally made kombucha from high quality ingredients. We use a majority of organic fruits and herbs, and proudly partner with local Santa Cruz farms to offer you a wide variety of seasonal flavors. We want to not only bring you a delicious drink, but something that nourishes you, revives you, and keeps you strong so you can continue to work and play hard. There are no artificial flavors or additives in our kombucha, so what you see is what you get, and we promise you’ll taste and feel the difference.

      Our Story

      Welcome to Living Swell Kombucha! We are a women-run business, founded in 2021 by us, Summer and Sophie, two friends, neighbors and local Santa Cruz mamas. With previous careers in Occupational Therapy and Law, it is safe to say we stepped outside our comfort zone when we decided to open Living Swell Kombucha Company. We are always having fun and love the learning and journey it has taken us on, from the early days of brewing out of our garage and having neighborhood “fill-ups”, to connecting with local Santa Cruz farmers and moving into a commercial kombucha brewery. 

      We built Living Swell Kombucha Co. during the pandemic when we found ourselves craving connection and community. We founded the business in the hopes of bringing people together through a delicious and nourishing beverage, literally strengthening our community from the inside out. Our name represents our love for our Santa Cruz community, our beautiful ocean, the importance of living a healthy and balanced life and the benefits of our living beverage.

      At Living Swell Kombucha Co. we prioritize sustainability. We operate on a draft only model with reusable & refillable bottles, helping reduce what ends up in our landfills. We work closely with local Santa Cruz farmers to obtain organic, seasonal and sustainably grown produce, and utilize imperfect produce when possible to minimize food waste. We have a strong compost system and work hard to reuse what we can at our brewery.

      We believe that kombucha is more than just a drink – it’s a way of life. It’s about taking care of your body, your community, and your planet.
